On 23 pages, the DIY book presents patterns titled Neat Knots Wallhanging, Wings of String Butterfly, Fish Story, Twice as Nice Plant Hanger, Beaded Beauty Belt, Beach or Books Tote, Jump Ropes, Message Center, Mr. Happy, Ring Around a Towel, and Pretty Hang-up.

Kids Can Macramé was edited and art directed by Mickey Baskett, with photography by Jimmy George and illustrations by Jackie Stephens. Cathy Bonds, Rose Brinkley, Michelle Menough, Carol Millsaps, and Lynn Witbeck are listed as co-authors.

All of the typefaces were available from VGC for the Photo Typositor. Daisyland – an ornamented variant of Erwin by Murray Fuchs – and Jerry Matejka’s Soul were originals by the Florida-based phototype company.
