The Best of Joe Tex was released in 1967 by Atlantic Records in their Dial Records Series. The ninth album by the Southern soul singer, it was already his third best-of compilation. Loring Eutemey designed the album cover, using a photograph taken by Nick Samardge and the then freshly released Davison Impacta.
The back cover features Anzeigen-Grotesk with News Gothic for Jonathan Cott’s liner notes and Monotype Clarendon Condensed for “Dial Records Series”.
The South African pressing comes with a different cover design featuring a different photograph (of a white woman), but still with Davison Impacta. [More info on Discogs]
