Movie poster for Homenaje a la guitarra, a music documentary directed by Bernabé Hernández. The poster was designed by Antonio Fernández Reboiro (1935–2020) for the ICAIC (Instituto Cubano del Arte e Industria Cinematográficos) in 1975.
From the obituary by DCPM (Diseñadores cubanos por el mundo), translated from the Spanish:
A member of ICAIC’s first team of film poster designers, Reboiro contributed, along with other great poster designers such as René Azcuy, Ñiko or Eduardo Muñoz Bachs, to make the Cuban poster graphic school known internationally and to turn the poster of the Revolution into art. […] In 1963, he joined the poster department of ICAIC. This true laboratory of experimentation offered him for almost two decades a space of formal freedom where he could give free rein to an overflowing imagination influenced as much by Art Nouveau, Art Deco or geometric constructivism as by op art, pop art or psychedelic art.
The display typeface is the lowercase-only Bau (Mecanorma, 1972) by Danish designer Flemming Bau. Naive is a loose reinterpretation with added uppercase by Benoît Brun and Raphaël de La Morinerie. Started at ECAL, it is scheduled for release with WrittenShape.
