Don’t try this at home: Lydian Cursive in all caps, on the cover of an album recorded by Korean Orphan Choir under the direction of Soo Chul Chang. Chances are this questionable typographic choice was motivated by the desire to hint at (a Westerner’s preception of) Asian calligraphy. It goes without saying that Warren Chappell’s cursive companion (1940) to his pen-written typeface, Lydian, has nothing to do with Hangul.

The wide grotesk is Venus Extended. The album was released on Word Records, a Christian label from Waco, Texas, in 1965.
