Within the walls of the former Van Marcke industrial site in Kortrijk, Hippocampus brings together the work of ten contemporary artists in a group exhibition hosted by ELDERS Collectief.
During their exploration of the site, designers Corbin Mahieu and Victor Verhelst discovered the factory’s original logo, which became the source of the visual identity. Shaped like a hippocampus, the mark was reinterpreted as a series of glyphs that appear across posters, exhibition catalogs and social media. Half letters, half creatures, they draw inspiration from the microscopic marine life illustrated by Ernst Haeckel.
The organic aesthetic is balanced by Compagnon Medium, whose monospace logic introduces a geometric contrast.
