Die Schneise, die das menschliche Leben hinter sich herzieht – Müll und Abfall (“The trail that human life follows – garbage and waste”) was made as a student project in the second semester in Media Design at DHBW Ravensburg.
Human life draws a path behind it. Wherever people are, they leave garbage behind. No matter what we do, we usually generate waste in the process: Packaging, hygiene items, food scraps, electronic waste, waste paper, …
With my main project for the semester, I’d like to open up new perspectives. Because although garbage has an exceedingly negative image and is almost exclusively associated with bad things, many problems related to garbage are growing: littering, resource theft and also unrecyclable composites.
Human life is cutting a big swath behind it. But how can it be that we learn a comprehensively negative narrative about trash on a small scale while losing sight of the huge, existentially threatening problems of trash on a large scale?
