From publisher Der gesunde Menschenversand (translated from German, with added links):
The new album Brutto Inland Netto Super Clean by spoken pop duo Cruise Ship Misery is a veritable “Gesamtkunstwerk”: in the book, each song (in dialect) is accompanied by an illustration by Luca Schenardi and a short story in High German by Sarah Elena Müller – all of which offer ever new approaches to the inner and underworld of the characters.
In seven chapters, the characters tell of the physical and mental captivities that life holds in store. What sounds like scenarios and mental states from the offside is rarely to be found far below the fragile surface of a functioning life. In the songs, the singer Milena Krstić devotes herself sometimes velvety, sometimes ugly to the constrictions that have become words – the more disastrous the situation, the more emphatically the discomfort is elevated to a party.
Design by Matthias Hofmann, using NN Konrad throughout.
