One Piece Of Baggage!

One of the more prominent uses of Hobo: the often-derided typeface without any straight lines features on the posters for Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. The 1969 western buddy film is set in 1899 Wyoming – which makes the typeface choice almost period correct: Hobo was first issued by American Type Founders in 1910.

One sheet (27″×41″) Style B poster. In this variant, Hobo is heavier than usual, see especially the pink lines. Maybe that’s because the setting was derived from an outlined setting, see the posters below.
