Balatro is a “poker-inspired roguelike deck builder” game, first released as a demo in 2023, followed by a full release in 2024. It was created by a solo developer known under the pseudonym LocalThunk.

Balatro uses the freeware pixel font m6x11 by Daniel Linssen throughout, often with an animated bouncing effect. It also appears on merchandise.
